Lights Out!!

My family and I just had a different Friday night. We were getting ready to settle in to watch tv and at about 9:30 p.m. the power went out. Always my first thought is "did my husband pay the bill" but I could see that our entire street was out. So, luckily I was able to find the flashlight then my husband got some candles going. It was so funny to listen to my kids. My ten year old kept saying, "I'm bored, why did this have to happen on Friday night, cry, cry, I'm bored..."
Then my seven year old kept saying, "I'm scared, close the windows, cry, cry, cry, cry..."
My three year old just thought it was great.

We did end up having fun though. We played charades, a tag game, what are you doing game, I'm thinking of ... and a M&M question game. After about one hour the power came back on. It was a happy day. It was so funny my ten year old was so excited because she could finally get back to watching her show. When the power came back on she said, "That took forever". It gave me a chuckle.

Having the power out reminded me of being little when the power would go out. I always loved it because that was the only time my parents would ever play a game with me. I was the only one left at home so I got all the attention during power outages. It was fun for me. Makes me think we should have our own power outage at least once a month. Pretty sad that having the power go out gets us to play games. I need to make this happen more for my little family.

Have a great weekend!!

It's so odd to have the power go out. We rarely have a power outage.. In fact I can't even think of a time that lasted more than a few minutes in the 10 years I have lived here.

Children are so funny without power... I'm bored crackes me up 0 so typical. But, what a good memory of playing games with your family. Always fun to post it and keep the memory forever - of that one time the power went out. I loved the pictures too! Fun!

I use to love having the power go out too because my parents always made it fun. I remember one time my dad built a fire in the fireplace and we had smores! It was so fun that even when the lights came back on we left them off.

I used to love power outages. My siblings and I would take turns trying to find each other and scare each other to death. :)

This reminds me of a time where the power went out for me, and it was great! It was in the middle of the day, so I just sat and read a book. It was so quiet and nice. Usually I have the TV on or something and wouldn't have had that quiet moment.

Our power goes out about once a month - the coop is working on replacing lines, but not very fast. We love power outages.
